Creating Franchising Opportunities, Together

When Ray Kroc opened the first restaurant (Des Plaines) in 1955, his total revenue for that day was -$366.12! Today, Ronald McDonald is one of the most recognised icons.

McDonald’s went public in 1963 with the company’s first offering on the stock exchange. A hundred shares of stock costing $2,250 would have multiplied into 74,360 shares worth billions of dollars today. In 1985 McDonald’s was added to the 30-company Dow Jones Industrial Average.

In 1968, Jim Delligatti’s brainchild, the ‘Big Mac’ was introduced. Jim was one of Ray Kroc’s earliest franchisees, who, by the late 1960s operated a dozen stores in Pittsburgh.

“If you’ve got time to lean, you’ve got time to clean,” Ray Kroc preached to his troops. The Chairman of the Board cleaned the parking lot of the first McDonald’s franchise in Des Plaines, Illinois.
