    • Meat Products

      Separate grills are used to cook the beef and chicken patties used in all our burgers and the Foldover. The grills have sensors that determine the cooking time for products. Products are grilled from frozen to maintain the highest quality standards. McDonald’s uses only 100% beef, and 100% chicken in all our beef and chicken products.

      Food Assembly

      Each meal at McDonald’s South Africa is prepared as soon as the order is placed by the customer. As the order appears on the screen, the crew person begins preparing the order by toasting the bun, adding fresh ingredients (lettuce, onions, pickles etc.), condiments and freshly prepared beef, chicken, fish or vegetarian patty.


      The order is finally packaged in 100% recyclable packaging by the crew, and served fresh to our customer.

      Maintaining Cleanliness

      Hygiene is of the highest priority within the restaurant. At the back of the restaurant, utensils, trays and other cooking equipment are washed in hot water, rinsed using a spray nozzle and then sanitised before being air-dried. A wash area is within close proximity to the different stations in the kitchen. A kitchen timer goes off every 30 minutes and every hour to remind crew to sanitise and wash respectively. Crew have easy access to the wash area to sanitise every 30 minutes and an hourly hand wash routine. This aligns with McDonald’s global standards, which ensure the highest food, hygiene and employee safety standards. Either blue or clear gloves are used for different products to prevent cross contamination, and gloves are discarded every time crew sanitises/washes hands.


      We have a variety of buns for our different products.
      Each bag of buns has an expiry and production date printed on the packaging. At McDonald’s we use the ‘first in, first out’ principle, this helps us keep track of which products to use first.

    • Our Beef

      McDonald’s serves a very high number of customers every day. As a result, we are able to buy in bulk and negotiate good prices. We pass this benefit along to our customers, ensuring real value to you.

      Our beef patties are made of 100% ground beef and nothing else - no fillers, no binders, no preservatives and no additives.

      We season our patties with salt and pepper and cook them on a double-sided 'clamshell' grill. No extra fat is added.

      We ensure our customers receive fresh, safe and great tasting fresh produce. Our produce is delivered to our restaurants via refrigerated trucks, so you get the best crisp, wholesome seasonal greens and vegetables available. Our “use thru” dates guarantee that only fresh products are sold.
