Introduction & Acceptance
1.
These Rules govern your participation in the FIFA World Cup™ 2026 gaming experience (the “Game”) within the McDonald’s App.
2.
Participation in the Game requires prior acceptance within the app of these Rules. These Rules are in addition to the standard McDonald’s App Terms and Conditions. McDonald’s Privacy Statement shall also apply.
3.
In order to benefit from the prizes, you also need to opt in (via the McDonald’s app) to the MyMcDonald’s loyalty program.
2.
Duration of the Game
1.
The Game is scheduled to take place between 9th June 2026 and end on 20th July 2026 (inclusive) on McDonald’s app.
3.
Eligibility & Account Security
1.
Account Requirement: Participation is strictly limited to natural persons who are 18 (eighteen) years of age or older with a registered and active McDonald’s account. Persons under the age of 18 may not participate.
2.
One Account Rule: Participation is limited to one (1) account per person; attempts to use multiple accounts for the same user may lead to disqualification.
3.
Security: You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device and account login details.
4.
Exclusions: The following persons are not eligible to participate in the Game: (a) employees, directors, agents, and contractors of McDonald’s South Africa (Pty) Ltd, its franchisees, and any agencies or suppliers directly involved in the Game; and (b) the spouse, life partner, parent, child, sibling, or business associate of any person referred to in (a). Any Reward obtained by an ineligible person will be void.
4.
Game Mechanics & Skill-Based Play
1.
Core Game: This game is skill-based. This in-app game is a skill-based shooting gallery in which players use touch controls to launch virtual footballs at targets to beat a designated score. The required score increases as players meet the daily objective.
2.
Daily Challenges: Four rotating minigames unlock perks to assist in the core game: Keepy Uppy, Where’s Grimace? Stadium Delivery, and Halftime Chef. These minigames will have varying objectives from day to day and allow you to unlock upgrades for the core game.
3.
No Chance: Game outcomes are determined solely by player skill (timing, direction, strength, using the participant’s touch control on their device). The Game does not utilize a Random Number Generator (RNG).
5.
McNugget Buddies & Loyalty Point “Burn”
1.
Collection: Players can collect up to 42 unique McNugget Buddies.
2.
Missed Days: If a user misses a Daily Challenge, they may burn MyMcDonald’s loyalty points (as set out in Addendum B) to unlock the missed Buddy and its in-game perk.
3.
Finality: Once points are burned, the transaction is final and cannot be reversed or refunded.
6.
Rewards
1.
Winner’s Choice: If you beat the designated score, you will have the choice to select between two (2) daily winning rewards, as further described in Addendum A.
2.
Consolation: A consolation reward shall be issued after an unsuccessful attempts as further described in Addendum A.
3.
Limits: A maximum of one (1) Rewards can be earned per user, per day.
4.
Fulfilment: Rewards are issued as digital coupons and added to the player’s loyalty account. Redemption of the digital coupons is subject to serving times and availability. Rewards may not be exchanged, in whole or in part, for any cash or other alternative and Rewards are not transferable, divisible or permitted to be sold, resold or gifted. All Rewards will expire if unredeemed in accordance with loyalty terms as stated in the McDonald’s App terms and conditions.

Privacy
1.
The participants data will be held and managed in accordance with the Promoter’s Privacy Statement and the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”)
8.
Accessibility & Technical Disclaimers
1.
Display: The game is optimized for portrait mode; non-standard aspect ratios (e.g., foldables) will result in a letterboxed display.
2.
Functionality: The experience is colour-blind friendly and sound is optional.
3.
Compatibility: Due to high-speed reactive mechanics, the game does not support screen readers or voice-control software.
4.
Liability: McDonald’s is not responsible for technical malfunctions or internet interruptions impacting gameplay or reward issuance.
9.
GENERAL
1.
You understand and accept that the Promoter retains ownership of all Game visuals and ownership or control of the trademarks and other intellectual property in and over the Game visuals and all Game advertising at all times. You acknowledge and agree that you have the right to use the Game solely for the purposes of the proper participation in accordance with the Rules.
2.
Any Reward allocated within the Game will be invalid and void for all purposes if, in the reasonable opinion of the Promoter, it: (a) has been generated or allocated as a result of any technical error, malfunction or system failure; (b) is corrupted, duplicated or otherwise not validly issued within the Game; (c) has been obtained through fraudulent, automated, or unauthorised activity, including any attempt to manipulate gameplay, outcomes; or the operation of the Game, or through the manipulation of device settings, software or network conditions; (d) has been obtained in breach of these Rules.
3.
A participants sole remedy for a void Reward through the fault of the Promoter or its agents will (conditional upon the same still being valid and available) be a replacement Reward.
4.
Should the Promoter determine (acting reasonably) that any person:
a)
is ineligible;
b)
has failed to comply with these Rules; or
c)
is misusing, tampering with, or attempting to misuse or tamper with the proper conduct of the Game,
the Promoter may (at its reasonable discretion):
(i) withhold, cancel or remove any Rewards allocated to that person; and/or
(ii) suspend or disqualify that person from participation in the Game (including with retrospective effect), with the result that any participation, Rewards or entitlements may be deemed void and disregarded without liability.

All McDonald’s references marked with a ™ or ® are trademarks of McDonald’s Corporation and its affiliates.
2.
All artwork, elements and characters and other trademarks and trade names featured in these Rules and advertising and other promotional materials relating to this Game are the properties of their respective owners and all rights in or over the same are reserved by the respective owners.

PARTICIPANTS
You must be a South African resident with a valid ID number, and you must be a registered McDonald’s South Africa App user to participate in the McDonald’s McFlurry® Golden Coconut Caramel Promotion (“the Promotion”) and you must be 18 years or older (or, if under 18, have the consent of a parent or legal guardian to participate and be bound by these Rules). These Rules are in addition to the standard McDonald’s App Terms and Conditions. McDonald’s Privacy Statement shall also apply. The following are not eligible to participate: (i) a director, member, partner, employee or agent of, or consultant to MSA DevCo (Pty) Ltd, t/a McDonald’s South Africa (“the Promoter”), or any other person who directly or indirectly controls or is controlled by the Promoter, and the immediate family members and members of the same household of any such person; or (ii) a supplier of goods or services in connection with the Promotion, and their immediate family members and members of the same household.
2.
DURATION
The Promotion is scheduled to take place from 9 June 2026 to 19 July 2026 at participating restaurants. These dates are subject to change and may be reduced or extended by the Promoter and the deadline for prize claims may consequentially be changed. Details of any such changes will be published on the Promoter’s website at https://www.mcdonalds.co.za as soon as reasonably practicable.
3.
HOW TO ENTER
3.1
During the Promotion, all participants are required to download (or access) the McDonald’s App and purchase a McDonald’s McFlurry® Golden Coconut Caramel for R49.90 and stand a chance to win 1 of 200 National Team Home jersey.
3.2
The McFlurry® Golden Coconut Caramel with the National Team Home Jersey competition is sold only on the McDonald’s App as an App exclusive for R49.90.
3.3
Registered McDonald’s App users may enter the Promotion in one way.
3.3.1
McDonald’s App – Redeem any McDonald’s McFlurry® Golden Coconut Caramel offer on the McDonald’s App from the ‘Deals’ section in the McDonald’s App during the Promotion using the following channels – SOK, Drive Thru, Front Counter and MOP (MOP channels–Drive Thru, Front Counter, Table Service or Curbside).
4.
PRIZE DESCRIPTIONS AND CONDITIONS
4.1
A Customer who purchases the McFlurry® Golden Coconut Caramel at R49.90 each are eligible for entry into the Promotion to stand a chance to win 1 of 200 National Team Home Jerseys.
4.2
Prizes must be claimed by the winner in person. The Promoter cannot accept prize collections by a third party.
4.3
The Promoter will make reasonable attempts to contact the eligible prize winners. In the event that the Promoter is not able to contact the eligible prize winners or if any prizes are not claimed by the due date, the prizes will be forfeited.
4.4
Prizes may not be exchanged for any cash or other alternative, and prizes are not transferable, divisible, or permitted to be sold.
4.5
All advertisements depicting the prizes and prize descriptions are illustrative rather than definitive.
5.
Contacting the winners of this promotion:
- McDonald’s will notify each winner either telephonically, SMS or by way of e-mail. Winners will be notified via the contact details provided in their McDonald’s App profile.
- The winner(s) will be contacted 30 days after the promotion has ended.
- If, the winner(s) cannot be reached after 3 (three) contact attempts within a period of 72 (seventy-two) hours, for any reason whatsoever, the prize will be forfeited, and another winner will be selected at the sole and absolute discretion of the Promoter.
- Winner(s) must be able to identify themselves in a manner determined by the Promoter as the participant in the competition. In support of this, the Promoter will require the winner(s) to complete and submit an information disclosure agreement and indemnification to enable the Promoter to ensure compliance with these competition rules and the Consumer Protection Act (No. 68 of 2008).
- The Promoter reserves the right to withhold a prize(s) until it is satisfied that the claim by the winner(s) is valid.
- The Promoter may refuse to award the prize(s) if these Competition Rules have not been adhered to or if it detects any irregularities or fraudulent practices.
6.
ADDITIONAL TERMS
6.1
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law (but not otherwise) the Promoter, its agents for administering the Promotion and the prize sponsors assume no responsibility and are not liable for: (i) the accuracy or otherwise of the prize descriptions or illustrations; (ii) the non-availability, loss, interception or interference with, late receipt or damage of or to any prize claim, discount voucher prize(s), voucher(s), prize or notification or other communication; (iii) any representation, warranty, condition or guarantee in respect of a prize; or (iv) any taxes, fees, charges or other costs which winners may be required to pay at any time in connection with a prize, (save to the extent that the Promoter has expressly and specifically accepted responsibility in these Rules for the same); and (v) all costs, injuries, losses or damages of any kind (including, without limitation, indirect, consequential or special damages), due in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, to a person’s participation in the Promotion, or arising out of a person’s participation in any Promotion related activity, or their receipt, use or misuse of any prize that may be awarded to them.
6.2
All prizes remain the property of the suppliers, pending redemption by winners and the Promoter is not responsible for the supply of, and does not own, any prizes provided by other suppliers nor acts as their agent in relation to the delivery to winners of prizes other than those supplied directly by the Promoter.
6.3
The submission of prize claims is the sole responsibility of the prize claimant. Any tax liability or life, health, travel, accident or other insurance associated with any prize is payable by the prize winner and is their sole responsibility.
6.4
The Promoter reserves the right and at any time at its absolute discretion and without giving any reason or notice, to vary, modify or amend the terms of these Rules in such manner as the Promoter thinks fit, provided that any material changes will be communicated on the Promoter’s website at https://www.mcdonalds.co.za. The Promoter may: (i) extend any time limit or waive any of the Rules where a person might otherwise have been disqualified (without obliging the Promoter to relax the Rules on any further occasion for that entrant or at all for any other person); (ii) terminate or suspend the Promotion at any time due to supervening circumstances beyond the Promoter’s control; and (iii) substitute a product deemed to be an appropriate replacement and of equal or greater value in the place of any of the prizes (or any part of a prize). The Promoter’s decision in the exercise or interpretation of any of its rights or discretions in connection with these Rules shall be final and binding.
6.5
The Promoter also reserves the right, without prior notice and at any time, to terminate the Promotion, in whole or in part, or modify, suspend, or extend the Promotion in any way, or deem an entry void and invalid if it determines, in its sole discretion, that the entry reflects printing or other errors or falsification or other action which has undermined the integrity and/or feasibility of the Promotion.
6.6
In administering this Promotion, the Promoter may collect personal information from the entrant in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (“POPIA”) and, unless it has first obtained your consent, the Promoter: (i) will not collect more of your personal information than it needs for the purpose of administering and analysing this Promotion and carrying out publicity as stated in these Rules; (ii) will only use your personal information for that purpose which may include transferring your personal information to its associates; (iii) will not transfer your personal information outside South Africa unless it is permitted to do so under POPIA and other applicable South African law; and (iv) will retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes of the Promotion or as required by applicable law, after which it will be securely deleted or de-identified. Selected partners of the Promoter (depending upon the nature of the prize and whether in addition to or in place of your providing personal data to the Promoter) may require you to provide to those partners personal data in connection with claiming/redeeming prizes and you should satisfy yourself with the privacy policies of such partners, as the Promoter does not accept any responsibility for them.
6.7
Subject to obtaining your prior approval, you agree that the Promoter and its successors or assigns may use your name, voice, likeness and any statements made by or attributed to you relating to the Promotion in any and all media, now known or hereafter devised, in perpetuity and through-out the universe for advertising, marketing, publicity and promotional purposes in connection with the Promotion without compensation, which potentially may include participation in a photo shoot determined at the sponsors discretion, and you release the Promoter and the sponsors from any liability arising from such use, including, without limitation, claims for invasion of privacy, infringement of your right of publicity and defamation.
6.8
No claim under or participation in this Promotion is valid in combination with any other offer or promotion.
6.9
By participating in the Promotion, participants agree to abide by and be bound by these Rules and the decisions made by the Promoter and its prize sponsors for the Promotion.
6.10
The decision of the Promoter and the prize sponsors in the interpretation of these Rules, or the exercise of any rights or discretions in connection with these Rules, shall be final and binding and the entrants.
6.11
By participating in the Promotion and/or redeeming any prizes, entrants release and agree to hold, subject to the maximum extent permitted under law, the Promoter, its agents for administering the Promotion and the prize sponsors harmless from and against any and all costs, injuries, losses or damages of any kind, due in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, to their participation in the Promotion, or arising out of their participation in any Promotion-related activity, or their receipt, use or misuse of any prize that may be awarded to them.
6.12
These Rules shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of South Africa. The rights conferred by these Rules (insofar as they are relevant) are for the benefit of the prize sponsors and the Promoter, and its agents for administering the Promotion. Each of the aforesaid entities shall have the right to assert and enforce those provisions relevant to itself directly against the participants in the Promotion in the Promotion on its own behalf.
6.13
Any prize claim will be void if it is deemed by the Promoter, or by any other prize-supplier involved with prize-redemption, to have expired, counterfeit, or if it has been offered for sale or a claim made in respect of it by an ineligible person.
6.14
Nothing in these Rules is intended to limit or exclude any rights that you may have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008 or any other mandatory statutory provisions. The Promoter may (in its sole discretion) decline to enter into any correspondence save as otherwise stated in these Rules.
